Sucesiva and artwks.co present the closing of the exhibition Pareidolia Cotidiana by Joel Castro Ramos. There will be a discussion with the artist and the collective “erreerrede” Red de Reproducción y Distribución, who will talk about the creative work in the graphic arts and the discursive field in Castro's work.

Established in Geneva, Switzerland, yet with a spirit that oscillates between this country and Mexico, a couple of years ago Jofff@ experienced a sudden retinal detachment. Since then, life has turned into a daily pareidolia for him—a psychological phenomenon in which one perceives familiar patterns, shapes, or faces stored in memory, creating the illusion of seeing something that isn’t really there.

As a reaction to this altered vision, squinting acts as a filter for light, narrowing the visual field and bringing nearby objects into sharper focus. This strategy involves a loss of detail, leading to a deceptive impression. From the place of humor and indiscipline that characterizes both Jofff@’s life and work, the possibility of distortion becomes inevitable—thus giving rise to new micro-stories that are just as real or fictional as the original ones.
