Daniela Elbahara presents Orbe latente, a solo exhibition by Hugo Robledo at Sona listening space.
In disciplines such as architecture or urbanism, unrealized projects occupy an ambivalent place: they reveal both determination and imagination by proposing forms and possibilities free from material limitations. Their absence raises a key question: can imagination also be a habitable space?
In Orbe latente, Hugo Robledo explores this idea through works where the chromatic surface becomes plane, space, and form. Through a fusion of painting and sculpture, he constructs environments inhabited by consciousness, where past and present coexist. Inspired by diverse temporalities—from the archaeological to Latin American modernity—he turns to worldbuilding to create simultaneous planes of existence.
His pieces evoke structures of transit, observation, and defense, as well as ruins from indefinite times, questioning painting as both representation and object. Works such as Pirámide, Jardín contenido, and Imagen latente delve into the architectural and the combination of materials, generating variations in texture and tone.
The result is open spaces with no clear boundaries, where forms overlap beyond gravity. Within them, the artist imagines a world between the future and human disappearance, where imagination becomes key to thinking about both the past and possible futures.
