Esta imagen no desaparecerá

The Centro Cultural de España en México invites to the audiovisual performance Esta imagen no desaparecerá (This image will not disappear) by artist, documentary filmmaker and researcher Pablo Martínez-Zárate and musician, artist and cultural promoter Rogelio Sosa.

Faced with the Israeli army's decades-long insistence on wiping Palestine off the map, Edward Said referred to the Palestinian people as “the image that will not disappear”. This idea frames the incursion of artists Rogelio Sosa and Pablo Martínez-Zárate into the abysses of military occupation, colonialism and the possibilities of art as a gesture of resistance in the face of hopelessness and polarization. Through the use of hundreds of historical slides, intervened images of the current occupation of Palestine and original music, this audiovisual performance is presented as a meditation on the origins of violence and the always unfinished search for freedom.
