Daniela Negrete & Karin Averkin

Lagos invites you to explore the creative process of the artists in residence during May through two study visits.

Daniela Negrete (MX): A graduate of UNAM, Daniela moves from figurative painting and academic technique toward a contemporary practice. During her three-month residency at Lagos, she is researching material and expressive possibilities, moving beyond personal narrative to create conceptual visualities where matter and content come together and connect.

Karin Averkin (UK-CH): Through painting, collage, and mixed media, Karin translates the energy of her surroundings and emotional introspection into abstract narratives. She uses the contrast between dark inks, bold colors, and found materials to explore fragmentation and reconstruction, reflecting the fleeting rhythm of human experience. During her residency at Lagos, she works with intimate and urban environments, seeking to capture her feelings about Mexico.
