Carolina Vélez and Karin Averkin

Lagos will host the Open Studio events of Carolina Vélez and Karin Averkin.

Carolina Vélez will present a preview of her research on the encounter-translation between the structural weave and warp of textiles and the digital space of ones and zeros on a screen. As a conceptual sublime space, she performs a performativity of knowledge, constructing, with integrated circuits such as analog switches and ceramic capacitors, a "video synthesizer" that allows her to manipulate the aesthetic possibilities of digital construction.

Karin Averkin presents medium- and large-format painting-collage works in which, through layers, she seeks to capture a primary gesture of affable drive, along with fragments of Mexico City that denote the contrast, tension, and complex variety of realities she has been able to assimilate.
