Círculos × Baby Lux

Museo de Arte de Zapopan (MAZ) presents Círculos x Baby Lux, a series of sound explorations centered on cycles, waves, and the circularity of vinyl records. In collaboration with local projects and cultural agents, diverse sonic proposals will set the turntables in motion, accompanied by activities, dancing, community gatherings, and amenities specially designed for each session.

In this edition of Círculos, sound will be explored in relation to matter in motion through the cosmology of Emanuel Swedenborg, whose treatise Las nueve reglas de lo trémulo (1718) inspires the exhibition Tremulaciones at the MAZ. Trip-hop, post-punk, and dream pop will shape the atmosphere of the session through a vinyl selection by Baby Lux, accompanied by visuals conceived specifically for this experience.

Baby Lux (Karla Saavedra) is an artist and vinyl selector. Her practice draws from scientific observation and the exploration of the microscopic world. Through photography, video, and optical microscopy, she investigates the primordial structures of nature. In her DJ sets, she navigates genres ranging from trip-hop to post-punk and dream pop, with a special focus on women-led projects. Her interest in the analog is reflected in a ritualistic and attentive mode of listening, where each record carries a history and each sound a vibration.

Onda Corta is the MAZ’s experimental sound program. It focuses on researching unconventional sonic forms through the design of immersive experiences, including the creation of multichannel works, workshops, laboratories, and improvisation sessions aimed at general audiences, artists, musicians, and enthusiasts.
