Beatriz Cortez y Rafa Esparza

Within the framework of Mexico City Art Week 2026, the Diego Rivera Anahuacalli Museum presents the exhibition La rebelión de los objetos (The Rebellion of Objects) by artists Beatriz Cortez (1970, San Salvador) and Rafa Esparza (1982, United States).

This exhibition proposes a reflection on the status of the objects that make up Diego Rivera’s collection and their relationship to memory, community, territory, and the structures that have shaped their interpretation within museums.

The aim of the exhibition is to reimagine possible futures for these works, freeing them from their museographic and institutional context so they may once again be situated within the logic of ancient objects: beings endowed with power and will, capable of forming a community across time.
