Sketch for Arroyo Grande brings together Goga Trascierra, Minori Murakami, Zoren Gold, Rudy Mendoza, Teresa Egea, Oso Parado, and Luis Kerch—artists who live or produce work in Baja California.
Rather than illustrating a territory, the exhibition seeks to register how the territory acts upon the work. An ecosystem of sparse vegetation and high intensity, where the rustic is not a style but a consequence; where dust is not atmosphere but matter; and where silence is not absence—it is direction.
Sketch for Arroyo Grande is curated by Mexican artist Goga Trascierra, with art direction by Victoria de Africa, an internationally experienced cultural producer, in collaboration with Galería Ginocchio (Mexico City and Baja California Sur). Together, they aim to highlight not only the artists’ work, but also the beauty and fragility of the territory of Baja California.Si quieres, puedo hacer una versión un poco más poética o una más institucional, según para qué soporte vaya (texto de sala, web, dossier de prensa).
