Patricia Conde Gallery invites you to participate in the workshop: Apreciación visual, led by Samuel Reyes.
Explore the visual arts from their historical and technical foundations to their contemporary critical interpretation: fine arts, graphic arts and their methods of reproduction, composition, color theory, image analysis, photography, film, contemporary art, and AI. Designed for artists, students, collectors, and anyone interested in learning to understand, analyze, and discuss visual works in greater depth, culminating in a direct museum experience.

Format: In-person at Patricia Conde Gallery.
Session 1: Fine arts (major arts) and minor arts, including graphic arts
- What are the differences between them?
- Craftsmanship, design, and graphic arts.
- Forms of graphic arts. Reproduction in the arts and its methods: woodcut, screen printing, risography, lithography, engraving, and etching.
Session 2: The image, its composition, and elements.
- Basic aspects of color theory.
- Elements that make up images (color, depth, volume, lines…)
- Analysis of Wassily Kandinsky’s *Concerning the Spiritual in Art*. Types of compositions and the importance of color in the works. Geometric shapes.
- Photography, its historical significance. The moving image, cinema.
Session 3: How to Interpret Works of Visual Art?
- Symphonic composition: reason, consciousness, intention, and purpose.
- Color, lines, volume: what they represent, what they convey.
- Style and technique: references, date of creation, the artist’s context, and cultural relevance at the time.
- Form, medium, and materials: what it is made of, on what, and in what form.
- Themes: portrait, landscape, still life, narrative, abstraction.
Session 4: Reflections on the current state of the image.
- Analysis of AI-generated images, contemporary art, and Byung-Chul Han’s *The Salvation of the Beautiful*.
- Analysis of photography, based on Roland Barthes’s *Camera Lucida* and the New Criticism.
- Forms of contemporary art: conceptual art, video art, performance art, minimalism, land art, installation art, bioart.
Session 5: Tour of an exhibition at a museum in Mexico City.
