Guadalajara90210 presents the exhibition by Amandine Guruceaga.
In a world where fire convulses populations and landscapes—whether through erosion driven by global warming, wars that reduce cities to ashes, or, as we have experienced in Mexico, burning trucks blocking highways—it becomes pertinent to reflect on the nature of fire not only as an end, but as a beginning: an element that consumes matter and returns it to charcoal, a primordial substance for the regeneration of soil and the seed of a new cycle.
Guruceaga takes fire as the origin of the world: the element that gave rise to new civilizations and a symbol of regeneration for an era that is being destroyed even as another begins in unknown directions. This project was developed during her artist residency at The Ant Project in Coyoacán, Mexico City.
