Alicia Paz

Artist Alicia Paz presents a new body of work that explores water and ceramic tradition as metaphors for identity, transformation, and belonging from a hybrid and feminist perspective. Inspired by Mexican Talavera, Delftware, and Portuguese tiles, Paz weaves together intercultural references with marine motifs such as octopuses, ships, and mermaids.

“I like to use water as a metaphor not only for identity, but also to evoke movement and connection,” the artist states.

Within this aquatic and symbolic universe, the mermaid emerges as an autonomous and powerful figure, while patterns and textures evoke a sea that brings together cultures, geographies, and histories. The exhibition invites viewers to immerse themselves in a visual dialogue that celebrates cultural diversity and the creative force of women.
