Akwetey Orraca-Tetteh

Galería Karen Huber presents the performance The Sound on Living by artist Akwetey Orraca-Tetteh, in collaboration with Emilio Gómez Ruíz, which takes place on the occasion of the exhibition Western Retreat.

A collaboration between Ghanaian American artist Akwetey Orraca-Tetteh, and the Mexican ceramicist Emilio Gómez Ruíz, “The Sound of Leaving” is a performance alluding to the sensorial and sentimental experience of disembarking in an unknown environment. An evolution from Orraca-Tetteh’s daily cycling routine during the peak of the pandemic, the work experiments with the vocal, mechanical and instrumental tones enmeshed in the artist’s practice during his isolation in CDMX. A living sculpture that transforms physical action into the digital realm, “The Sound of Leaving” will result in a sound recording available in an NFT certificate as part of the exhibition Western Retreat.
