Museo Amparo

The Museo Amparo is a private institution founded in 1991 in memory of Amparo Rugarcía de Espinosa by Manuel Espinosa Yglesias and his daughter Ángeles Espinosa Yglesias Rugarcía through the Fundación Amparo, with the commitment to preserve, research, exhibit, and promote Mexico’s pre-Hispanic, viceregal, modern, and contemporary art.

Museo Amparo is considered one of the most important cultural and exhibition centers in Mexico. It houses galleries dedicated to its pre-Hispanic art collection, one of the most significant in Mexico within a private institution. In addition to its collections of viceregal art and works from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, as well as contemporary art, the museum presents an ongoing program of national and international temporary exhibitions, alongside an extensive program of academic, artistic, educational, and public activities designed for a wide range of audiences.
