SWIMMING POOL MAGAZINE DANCE [musings in Mexico City]
Exhibition
-> Sep 27 – Jan 10
Mariane Ibrahim presents SWIMMING POOL MAGAZINE DANCE [musings in Mexico City] by ruby onyinyechi amanze. There will be two performances on opening day: one at 12 and one at 2.
This project is an experiment: a modest, perhaps even audacious, attempt to open a window onto process, to consider an artistic practice from within the frame of the white cube.
Mariane Ibrahim has invited ruby onyinyechi amanze to engage with Mexico, and with the gallery, in a manner that feels unbounded, provisional, and porous, temporarily detached from our daily concerns. Yet those concerns remain constant: daily, relentless, protean. They collide with hers, folding and unfolding like a sheet of paper—fragile, malleable, a surface at once vulnerable and luminous.
What emerges is not an exhibition of polished objects, but a glimpse into the artist’s world: into the rhythms of her making, her experiments, her choreography of images, bodies, and materials.
The results take the form of a SWIMMING POOL, a MAGAZINE, and a DANCE.
This is not merely the relationship of curators and artist, but of humans in collaboration—these are ruby onyinyechi amanze’s musings in Mexico City.
