larí garcía and Aimée Suárez Netzahualcóyotl

Tela y tijera y ya

proyecto píkaro presents a visual conversation between two artists larí garcía and Aimée Suárez Netzahualcóyotl in Tela y tijera y ya.

The two were invited to create, respond, and converse for two weeks within the physical space of proyecto píkaro utilizing the metaphors of a cardboard box and a move to produce work.

The resulting exhibition displays quotidian objects engaged in transitions from a suppositional point A to point B, objects charged with a mixture of their own physical and potentially spiritual/transformative properties as well the memories and fantasms embedded from their lived use.

As part of proyecto píkaro’s ongoing mission to have a reading room we’ve invited nine artists and writers to present and share poems, essays, zines, books, and printed matter that touch on similar thematics as featured in the exhibition Tela y tijera y ya.

List of writers: Mónica Arreola, Darinka Lamas, Cristina Torres, Christian Fajardo, Mariana Emiko, David Nahúm, Daisy Elizeth Magallanes, Allegra Hangen, Lucía Hinojosa

proyecto píkaro

We are a project space focused not only on exhibitions but also function as a platform for open discourse on art practice, where resolutions and innovations for the presentation and writing of contemporary art are prioritized.
