Patricia Conde Galería presents Gu'wá i'di / Casa sangre, Yael Martínez's first solo show at the gallery. The exhibition is comprised of works from her earlier projects La raíz oscura (2010-2012), La casa que sangra (2013-2016) and La raíz rota (2016-2019), as well as unpublished pieces from her most recent series Somos el sueño de alguien que estuvo antes que nosotros (2023-2024).
Yael Martínez's work is a visual essay on the resilience of those who have been touched by violence at some point in their lives, of those people and communities that inhabit and resist in a territory that has been traversed by it. She is interested in discussing Mexico and Latin America as a symbolic space, a land where violence penetrates everyone, and how this violence transcends the physical and spiritual space of those who inhabit it.
At the same time Yael Martínez will have a solo exhibition, Flor de fuego. Rí'yuu àgú, at Sala A of the Museo de Arte Moderno in Mexico City, which will be on view from Wednesday, July 24 to Sunday, October 13, 2024.
