Viviana Díaz & Ana Ortiz

El Jardín Interior, where consciousness and unconsciousness meet

Exhibition

-> Jul 10 2025 – Jun 24 2025

Galería Cromática presents El Jardín Interior, where consciousness and unconsciousness meet, an exhibition by Viviana Díaz and Ana Ortiz with curatorial support from Rocío González Rosas.

The works brought together in El Jardín Interior, Where Consciousness and Unconsciousness Meet are articulated as a dialogue between experts in trauma and healing, who reflect each other through their similarities and contrasts. Indeed, the universes of both artists, Ana Ortiz and Viviana Díaz, are presented as dissimilar stages, ranging from the micro to the macro and from the interior to the exterior. Regardless of their differences, in both cases, we are confronted with intimate universes that spring from a wound that flows toward its own healing, in trajectories where we appreciate the existence of micro-worlds and blossomings. Hence, nature is the setting shared by all the pieces in “El Jardín Interior” (The Inner Garden), as the place of origin for the common desire to transcend the pains of childhood and the sufferings of the female body. All of the above can be appreciated in a collage, a song, or a textile, in which the different therapeutic processes undergone by the artists can be perceived.

Public program
ACTIVATION 1: TechnoAmulets to flourish. Saturday, July 12, 12pm. 10 spots available.

The workshop starts from the artists' need to blossom into life in order to create and enjoy it. So, the first thing you will do is a meditation in which you visit your inner garden, and in the center of the garden there is a flower that whispers clues to help you in your process of blossoming. When you return from meditation, you will remember the words of the flower. Using fabric, jewelry, and thread, you will create a textile amulet, and through a device used to record and play back voice, you will record what the flower told you, so you will not forget, and you can listen to it whenever you need to remember. Welcome to exploring your inner garden to find your blossoming.

ACTIVATION 2: Free workshop, materials included. Saturday, July 19, 12pm. 6 spots available.

In this activity, the artists invite participants to create butterfly-shaped candles, exploring the idea of metamorphosis not only as a vital symbol but also as a material process in momentary transformation. Just as the butterfly emerges from the chrysalis, the wax, initially malleable and fluid, transforms upon contact with the hands, heat, and time. More than a craft, this experience is a meditative gesture: a symbolic garden where doing awakens senses and memories, and where the conscious and unconscious find new ways to express what is not always named.

Closing concert: Thursday, July 24, 7pm.
