The Centro Cultural de España presents the group exhibition Una voz / una imagen. At the opening, curator María Virginia Jaua and artist Martín Soto Climent will be present.
Una voz / una imagen invites a group of artists to select an existing image from the world and engage with it through interpretation and reflection. The aim is to integrate the critical device into the artistic/exhibitory practice or, conversely, to make the critical device the very essence of the work itself. In this sense, it is an exercise in being through art.
The exhibition is structured around a series of projected images, each accompanied by the artist’s thoughts, expressed through their voice. In the encounter of these two phantasmal forms—image and voice—a subtle tension arises between the materialization and de/materialization of the artwork.
What is presented here is what is usually unseen: the artist’s thought process.
Curated by María Virginia Jaua, the exhibition is being presented in Mexico for the first time. The original selection of artists—Ignasi Aballí, Ángela Bonadies, Gonzalo Elvira, Esther Ferrer, Pedro G. Romero, Dora García, Narelle Jubelin, Eva Lootz, Antoni Muntadas, Javier Peñafiel, Álvaro Perdices, Paloma Polo, and Isidoro Valcárcel Medina—is joined by Mexican artist Martín Soto Climent.
