Latin American Art Auction

Morton Subastas presents the Latin American Art Auction, a selection of 188 lots that reflect the creativity worked by great artists, who have marked social, political and artistic history worldwide.

Among the works that make up this great Latin American Art Auction, a mural by José Chávez Morado from Guanajuato entitled “La música” stands out, as well as two oil paintings on canvas and a drawing on paper by the outstanding artist of symbolic realism: Ángel Zárraga. Also, emphasis should be placed on a screen by Roberto Montenegro from Jalisco, with a modernist sense but aesthetics rooted in nationalism.

Lot 53 belongs to the painting "Orange - Blue - Green" by Gunther Gerzso, who was characterized by having a deep appreciation for the abstract style and which, in turn, was linked to pre-Columbian elements. In the same way, two “Messages” by Mathias Goeritz stand out. In addition, 6 paintings belonging to the family of Francisco Eppens, 10 sculptures that were part of the "Libertad en Bronce" project and a section directed at the great project that was the production of Calendar Painting in the mid-20th century.

Works by Dr. Atl, Nahui Olin, and Surrealists Alice Rahon, Bridget Tichenor, and Leonora Carrington are featured. From the La Ruptura Generation you will find works by Francisco Corzas, Manuel Felguérez, Vicente Rojo, Enrique Echeverría, Vlady, Alberto Gironella and Pedro Coronel. Of painters born in Latin America, the works of Loló Soldevilla, Fernando Botero, Manuel Pailós, Fernando de Szyszlo, Alejandro Corujeira, among many others, stand out.
