As the result of a long-term artistic research, Corteza líquida is a solo exhibition by artist Sonia Bandura that explores the symbiotic relationships between bacterial microorganisms and their influence on geological processes. From the inhospitable and humid depths of the Earth, these tiny and silent organisms emerge as imposing architects of life. Through an exercise in fiction, the artist explores her bond with these microscopic life forms, highlighting the interdependence that exists between her body, the environment and what she comes into contact with. Through an iterative practice that combines drawing with the care and cultivation of SCOBY's (Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yest), Bandura establishes an affective relationship by creating a bond of both intimate observation and organic interaction with these beings.
