Tipos de Agua
Aldo Chaparro Studio and Aparador EDA in collaboration with Salón Silicón present the individual exhibition Tipos de Agua by Sofía Hinojosa.
"types of water drown us, types of water don't."
Anne Carson
Tipos de Agua is an investigation that explores the meaning of this liquid in everyday life. Whether as an object of desire or as an element of work. The domesticated water is the one that arrives to our daily life piped in the cities, it is the one that comes out when opening a faucet. Distant water is that which humans desire for rest and contemplation; the sea, rivers, pools. In this search to discern the formal and symbolic elements between both types, necessity and desire are located. The idea of labor is underlying in one way or another, whether in the promise of rest as a reward for work, or in domestic chores and needs. Hinojosa uses images and symbols that are familiar and utilitarian, representing various ways in which we interact with water, whether consuming it, desiring it, or enjoying it.
