Centro Cultural de España en México presents Sesiones Vermú 08_ Fuente oscura / cuarto oscuro [Vermouth Sessions 08_ Dark fountain / dark room] where Rodrigo García Marina, Luis Felipe Fabre, TROPIC AZA and Gladys Palmera (musical curator) participate.
During the first part we will have the writer, performer and doctor by profession Rodrigo García Marina, who will talk about the representations of darkness in literature and culture as a driving force for breaking the norm. This conversation proposes an approach to the representations of darkness in literature and culture, taking as a starting point the figure of Saint John of the Cross and his latest novel, "Dark Night of the Soul", which explores themes of darkness and homoeroticism. The conversation takes its name inspired by this idea and proposes creating a place where darkness becomes a source of inspiration and breaking of norms. All of this will allow us to address the metaphor of darkness, the baroque and liminal spaces such as saunas, dark rooms and raves, exploring their relationship with LGBT themes and their connection with contemporary literature and culture.
In the second part Gladys Palmera introduces to Tripocaza, who brings us an eclectic session through the musical treasures that are part of her collection. A sound journey in which darkness becomes a rich and powerful metaphor, with a selection of artists who have traveled through dark places and have used music as a tool of rebellion and expression.
