Salon ACME no. 9

Art fair

-> Feb 10 2022 – Feb 13 2022

Salon ACME, an art platform focused on giving visibility and dissemination to a wide variety of artists, galleries and curatorial projects, will present its ninth edition.

The main exhibition, the result of the Open Convocatory, brings together the work of more than 50 artists from different generations and contexts, with a wide variety of proposals and formats.

The Invited State is Morelos. The curatorship is Palmera Ardiendo (Cuernavaca); a platform for critical thinking, experimentation and encounter through contemporary art. They present the exhibition Summon The Time, which brings together artists who explore the confluences between chronological time and atmospheric time. The exhibition takes refuge in the shade to escape from the Morelos climate, warm by definition, and from there, recover the mysterious and inevitable part of time.

For the first time, the curatorship of the Invited Projects section is carried out by Ana Castella, curator and cultural manager with more than 15 years of experience in the field of contemporary art. The curatorial plan includes projects of various formats and artistic media, offering a tour that visits themes such as science fiction, color fields, bodies, the force of gravity, fabrics, tours, new forms of muralism, memes, replicas, gardens, ruins and talismans.

36 projects participate, with galleries from Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, United States, England, Guatemala and Mexico.

Bodega ACME is curated by Geovana Ibarra, curator, manager and cultural promoter with nearly 20 years of experience in private collections, museums and independent spaces. It exhibits a sample of a selection based on the strangeness of artistic productions; enigmatic forms or images that tempt us to investigate their mysterious link between the strange and what we believe to be known. 20 national and international artists participate.

The Sculpture Patio presents a proposal by the artist Pablo Kobayashi. The piece reflects on the act of breathing. That involuntary action that in these pandemic times has acquired other meanings.

Los Perros Románticos, Salón ACME's bookstore, features a selection of nearly 300 books that includes first editions, collectibles, jewelry, and publishing rarities on Mexican art, pre-Hispanic cultures, Latin American history, literature, and more. The bookstore is curated by Óscar Benssini.

Casa Wabi will continue to award the prize of the Salon, which consists of an artistic residency at the Casa Wabi headquarters on the coast of Oaxaca.
