Roberto Martín Maiztegui

Centro Cultural de España en México presents Los Brutos by Roberto Martín Maiztegui.

As part of the series: Aperitivos Teatrales. Dramaturgia contemporánea española, which aims to disseminate in Mexico the texts of Spanish playwrights through dramatized or semi-dramatized readings, Los brutos by Roberto Martín Maiztegui is presented for the first time in Mexico, in collaboration with the Centro Dramático Nacional.

Synopsis: Violent, rude, lacking in respect and civility: that is the RAE's definition of “brute”. And that is, in a way, Nito's world: the neighborhood where he lives, the people around him. That's why his entry into film school to study screenwriting leads him to take a leap towards another life: artistic, sophisticated. This is the story of that transition and of what Nito leaves behind along the way: his best friend, his girlfriend, his family. Writing is what provokes the loss and, at the same time, the only thing that can perhaps keep everything alive, albeit in fiction.
