Rito y juego

Petra presents Rito y juego, a collective exhibition with work by Enrique López Llamas, Gilberto Aceves Navarro, Ruben Ulises Rodriguez Montoya, Andrea Ferrero, Juni Aranda, Scott Galván, César Rangel, Natalia Berzunza, Mariana Paniagua and Abraham González Pacheco. Curated by Eugenia Ávila, Frisa Mesa and Manuel Pidal.

Rito y juego brings us closer to the material process in which every artist is immersed when developing their work. It speaks to how the artist plays and experiments with various materials during their process of discovery, while at the same time, the artist is played by the material itself. This dismantles the dynamic of play as merely the mechanical execution of skills, establishing it instead as a distinct reality within the artist’s workspace or studio, reconciling the player’s experience with the very reality of the game.
