Base_ and Renata Morales present Turris Fortissima, an installation of pieces crafted in Cerámica Suro, in Guadalajara. These unique pieces by Renata reflect her identity as an artist and are cause for celebration to share with the creative community of Mexico City.
Turris Fortissima, which means "the strongest tower" in Latin, is the central piece of the installation: a tower assembly of low-temperature Faenza ceramic serving as a backbone, uniting various techniques, symbols, objects, and characters in Renata's creative work.
The tower, created with different volumes and forms, celebrates Renata's exploration across various mediums, incorporating ceramics, clay, and kiln-fired glazes into her creative expression. Cerámica Suro in Jalisco has been her center for exploration, learning, and idea development, collaborating with local artisans.
The sculptural urns are turned, molded, hand-decorated, and carved, then glazed and fired multiple times, with a gold firing as the final touch. The installation reflects the influence of music in her work, highlighting rhythmic, cacophonic, and saturated elements, representative of her personal history and accentuated by continuous collaboration with musicians throughout her career.
The collaboration between Renata and base_ is distinguished by organic artistic recognition and the dissemination of relevant creative projects.
