Patricia Conde Galería presents Rehabitar el silencio, an exhibition with works by Mexican artists Ana Blumenkron, Tania Bohórquez and Sylvana Burns, curated by Paola Dávila.
As Dávila, curator of the exhibition writes, the artists present work produced in other countries, but which establishes a dialogue with their place of origin. Trauma, incest, power, and control over the body: social violence exercised mainly on women are concepts that run through the production of these three artists who start from their bodies or those of others to re-inhabit them. In their work, they address recurring themes for feminism concerning money, love, the body, and sexuality. From there, they produce images that start from experiential experiences and are presented from vulnerability, but one that leads to strength, not weakness.
Blumenkron, Bohóquez, and Burns face the same ancient exercise of power, with different compositional structures. The ways of evidencing it change, but not the violence exerted on women. They start from the body, sex, and desire as fundamental forces to talk about what is not usually named, to reconfigure reality, permeate it, and influence it.
