“Los recuerdos del porvenir” or in english (something sort of: “The memories of the future”), is the title of the emblematic novel of the award-winning writer from Puebla, Mexico, Elena Garro and it presents us with its name, a premise of a time that does not exist. A timeless fantasy in which we can long or develop nostalgia for something that has not happened, for something that has not yet been experienced. The future could not be visualized through memories, since it evidently does not yet exist, nor did it exist or possibly will not exist.

In this paradox that defies the limits of logic, lies our new collective exhibition “Recuerdos del porvenir”, with which Playa Escandón, an emerging contemporary art space, sets a position towards the future, taking many of its best moments from the past.

Playa Escandón seeks to continue its consolidation as a space where art lovers find innovative, irreverent and refreshing proposals. Concepts of art done seriously, with arguments or forms that are not so serious. Images that often seem taken from a dream of fever, a bad trip or a blurry hallucination produced by fatigue.

Playa Escandón explores (and will continue to do so) these topics that concern us, motivate us, conflict us, make us laugh, make us reflect, that makes us human... free of all artificial intelligence but with a lot of emotional intelligence. With “Recuerdos del porvenir” we mark a position on our future, our vision and the dreams of a space with a lot of soul, with a lot of identity.

“Recuerdos del porvenir” features the participation of renowned and talented emerging creators such as Fernando Álvarez, Álvaro Contreras, Daniloween, Enrique Larios, Gladys Méndez, Ivan Barrera, Jonathan García Ayala, José Luis del Pino, Manolo Moreno, Miguel Casco, Monkey Rat, Omar Herrera, Trilce Zúñiga and Xecani. This same project (although with different pieces) will be brought to our stand at the “Clavo”, the emerging art fair during CDMX art week and will remain on display in the gallery until the end of March.

This is just beginning
