Oswaldo Vigas

Galería RGR is pleased to present the Viewing Room Oswaldo Vigas: A journey Towards Firguration, an exhibit where the viewer will go across two plastic stages of one of the lead figures of modern art in the 20th century and an essential participant in the formulation of the Latinamerican identity.

Vigas established himself as a fundamental character to understand the context of modernism in the continent and as a central link between the different proposals that seek to generate a language proper of the region. Through a constantly changing imagination, Vigas shapes up images that fluctuate between what is real and imaginary, by using a pictorial metalanguage that gives back shape and closeness to old myths and hidden traditions; a space where metaphysical concerns deepen into his own magical and fantastic personal universe, giving voice to the poetic lyricism that infuses each of his pieces.
