Guided tour
-> Jan 8 2022
El Sur invite you next Saturday, January 8, to visit the studios of their residents Carolina Van Waeyenberge, Lauren Klotzman and Mari Shibuya, who will talk about their work on a guided tour.
Carolina Van Waeyenberge (Mexico City, Mexico.) Digital art, smells and movement coexist in her work (such as multisensory installations or choreographies based on perfumes instead of music). Her projects have been exhibited at the "Museo del Perfume", "Taller-Estudio Barragán", "Théâtre de la Ville de Paris" (Danse Élargie International Festival), Chopo Museum, among others. She seeks to make sense of the immensity of stimuli by creating encompassing spaces to allow herself to feel calmly.
Lauren Klotzman is an interdisciplinary artist, writer, and curator based in Marfa, Texas. Their recent work examines gendered histories of computing and the nature of the screen via textile production and lensless video techniques. Klotzman has a BA in Art and Visual Culture from Sarah Lawrence, and is currently pursuing an MFA in Film/Video at Bard College’s Milton Avery School of the Arts.
Mari Shibuya (they/she) (Duwamish / Coast Salish territory / Seattle WA) is a Visual and Social Artist specializing in murals, community visioning through the arts, and scribing. Their work focuses on the intersection of public art activation, visual thinking and creative empowerment while inviting in the spirit of collaboration and connection.
