Muda

Closing exhibition of Casa Lü Tlalpan

Exhibition

-> Feb 1 2020 – Feb 29 2020

In 1999, in a house in Villa de García, on the outskirts of Nuevo León, the curatorial group la mesa (Aldo Chaparro, Mauricio Cortés, Mario García Torres and Vanessa Fernández) organized the MUDA exhibition. The artistic object seemed to be the pretext although the essentials became in tints of relational art: the coexistence between the local public, musicians and visual artists interested in activating the scene in the north of the country. After 20 years, in another house located in the southern perimeter of Mexico City, the spirit of that exhibition of the late nineties is revisited, in which the trajectories of five artists that were presented in MUDA (1999) together with the proposals of new generations.

How has the art scene been transformed in Mexico? How have we grown? What new portals have emerged for the development of artistic practices? What is happening now? At what rhythm? One of many archives is revived and a historical layer is added to that southern space that is shared, and which skin has changed as much as the drives of each of the 55 residents. Let's celebrate the resistance and transformation of the survivor zone on the mainland.
