Maisie Cousins, Jardín, Cocina, Basura y cuerpo
Galeria Hilario Galguera is very excited to announce Jardín, cocina, basura, cuerpo, by artist Maisie Cousins (b.1992, UK). The exhibition is Cousin’s rst solo show in Latin America and will feature works from 2018 through to 2021, including some images taken during her time spent in Mexico
Maisie Cousins is a London-based photographer whose stimulating images explore the relationship between the beautiful and the grotesque with a visceral rawness. Cousins uses intimately cropped images of detailed subject matter pushing the boundaries of seduction and repulsion. The glossy and hyper-saturated images display subject matter such as food, owers, waste and the impoliteness of the body, the latter as celebration of femininity.
The title of the exhibition is composed of four words that integrate and synthesise vital, dynamic and organic cycles, re ecting the artist’s proposal and intention in this body of work. The gallery spaces will be painted with the new COMEX colours, with the intention of underlining the formal and conceptual qualities of the works.
