México: desde el centro hasta la herida

Sonia Madrigal, Yael Martínez, Francisco Mata Rosas

Patricia Conde Galería presents the exhibition Mexico: From the Center to the Wound, as part of GAMA Week 2025, the annual event organized by Galerías de Arte Mexicanas Asociadas (GAMA), taking place on September 4, 5, and 6, 2025, in Mexico City. The exhibition features works by three renowned Mexican photographers: Sonia Madrigal, Yael Martínez, and Francisco Mata Rosas. The curatorship is led by Emma Cecilia García Krinsky.

The opening will take place on Thursday, September 4 at 6:00 pm, with an open gallery from 11:00 am accessible to the public.

Mexico: From the Center to the Wound raises an essential question: From where do these images gaze at us?

Geographical boundaries—such as cities, poppy fields, railroad tracks, borderlines, or religious traditions—are not enough to contain what these photographs convey.

Each artist travels through their own territory:

  • Sonia Madrigal turns her gaze to Ciudad Neza, her place of origin.
  • Francisco Mata has made Mexico City the axis of his work, extending his practice to different regions of the country and the northern border.
  • Yael Martínez explores both an inner world torn apart by absence and the paths of migrants.

Together, their images build a documentary portrait of the everyday, the painful, and the wounded realities that inhabit our country.
