Pequod Co. presents the solo show Situations Will Continuously Happen (Part 1) by Leo Marz.
In this exhibition, the first of a two-part series, Leo Marz offers a vision of a posthuman world in which the experience of time and space has been irreversibly transformed by digitalization. In this world, the temporal succession accelerated by the dizzying flow of images not only compresses time but also collapses space: it generates a new zone of perception in which planes, perspectives and dimensions coexist in a dislocated manner.
Leo Marz's pieces are glimpses of that metaspace in which the basic coordinates of orientation, such as the vanishing point or proportion, no longer exist. They are invitations to penetrate the surface, beyond whose threshold there is neither depth nor depth, but a maelstrom of perspectives and a dust devil of spectral images: the collapsed space in which a thousand dimensions coexist.
In Leo Marz's imaginarium, the digital reproducibility of images and their disordered flow have acquired their own logic. These are the ruins of a previous world, but in which some principles that generated the form survived. Are they elements waiting for a new beginning, the announcements of a new civilization?
Sometimes chaotic and sometimes disconcerting, Leo Marz's fabrics are perhaps the indication of a strange and convulsive beauty to come.
