La visión inaccesible | El cuerpo casi invisible

proyecto píkaro presents the closing of the collective exhibition La visión inaccesible | El cuerpo casi invisible, curated by Anna Berenice Garner. Nothing new will be presented, a special performance by the artist Emilio Gómez Ruiz at 7:30 p.m.

When absence materializes physically in the space of an exhibition, new archives and contexts are generated that can elide a centralized vision and geographic and bodily center. The artists that present their works in La visión inaccesible | el cuerpo casi invisible, take control of the visible and invisible, approaching absence as a tool to investigate the long history of portraiture and the contemporary position of the body as subject in art. They put into question the role of the figure as an explanatory material as well as the desire to superficially correct absence with presence. Through representing the body as a trace, an impression, or something partially or fully hidden, the rules of visuality and the precept of complete visual access are challenged. From here, absence is a key to open a world not yet manifested, in which there is no center nor any desire to establish one.
