Karla Silva* works with assemblages, overlays, and fragments that stem not only from technical or aesthetic choices but from a symbolic need: to gather what is dispersed, to reconnect what has been separated, to compose meaning from what insists on remaining. Echoing Deleuze’s notion of the fold —not merely form, but the continuity of an energy that never ceases— she conceives each surface as a living archive where experience accumulates, bends, and transforms. *Karla is currently in residence as part of the award granted by the XXV Baja California Art Biennial in the Artistic Production Residency category, organized by the Secretaría de Cultura de Baja California.
Zaide Harker presents works that pulse with urgency and lived experience from her native Australia. Her intensely worked canvases address themes of identity, imperfection, and transformation—shaped in part by her diagnosis with Huntington’s disease and her long involvement within the disability support community. Here, oil painting becomes more than pigment and binder: it becomes movement, resistance, memory.
Ken Forbes is a Brooklyn-based artist who works primarily with coffee and cacao as media, drawing influence from cubism and abstract expressionism. He creates immersive artistic experiences that delve into the human condition, exploring mental health, and the challenges faced by minorities and marginalized communities.
