John Copeland

This is Not my Beautiful House, is the title of John Copeland's first individual exhibition in Mexico and corresponds to a fragment of the Talking Heads song, Once in a Lifetime. The exhibition is made up of 16 recent paintings, mainly of everyday or domestic elements and scenes, for example Put it all out on the Table, 2022, a still life with flowers in reference to the vanitas especially common in Flemish and Spanish painting of the S .XVII, which represented through symbols the fragility of life and the brevity and insignificance of the material and mundane.
