Jimena Chávez Delion

Aferrarse a los márgenes is the second solo exhibition of Peruvian artist Jimena Chávez Delion in Mexico City. The exhibition traces the artist's recent years of work and research, linking sculptural works, mixed media and her first documentary video, Despertar el pulso.

Chávez Delion's work explores the connections between material culture, subjectivity and vulnerability in the context of neoliberal economies. It investigates how people's histories, geographic movements and choreographic behaviors coexist with economic scarcity and aspirations in marginalized urban contexts or in places marked by informal economies.

In her installations, sculptures, videos and drawings, she focuses on gestures, residues and materials that contain or mimic others. His practice seeks to preserve and present these findings, balancing their affective value with the precariousness of the experiences that gave rise to them.
