De madera y aire
Exhibition
-> Sep 7 2021 – Oct 30 2021
Images of a past that I never knew, of a Venezuela of yesterday, that today nostalgia transfigures into a colorful past of good things. Images of family, ancestors, and ghosts accompany a present that honors and wants to learn. The fading of memories and the desire to cling to them, and to those who belong to them. Those mixed feelings when we realize that things are not as they were, and that perhaps they were not as they are presented to us today. Perceptions toward life rituals such as marriage, patriarchy, and religion, which have changed over time with the pursuit of equality, and an infinite desire to create a prosperous present and future for the individual and the family. These themes that traffic in the everyday and magical realism have inspired this exhibition that speaks of what life is made of - memories, day dreams, work and hope, love and loss, family and loneliness, of what is tangible and intangible - of wood and air.
