Javier Peláez

Saenger Galería participates in Intervalos, the first individual drawing exhibition by the artist Javier Peláez (Mexico City, 1976); housed in the Project Room.

Composed of a short set of works on paper in different formats, including a large-scale polyptych, Intervalos displays four recent series by the artist: Loop, Grecas, Línea rota and Sweeps.

Since he developed the pictorial project Fake Gold, partially presented by Saenger Gallery in the exhibition Work, Story, Pleasure during the last edition of the Art Week, Peláez has maintained in recent years a path parallel to his exercise in painting. , and that effort materializes on this occasion with the present exhibition dedicated exclusively to his facet in drawing.

Whether they are made with ink, charcoal or oil, each of the works gathered here allows us to trace a substantial part of the dilemmas that the artist faces in his studio; at the same time, his work in his drawing opens up new possibilities in the creation of his painting.

As an exact reflection of his pictorial practice, Intervalos takes us into a little-known area in Javier Peláez's career, thus marking a distance between one body of work and another; and in doing so, he reveals an unsuspected rhythm and the same desire for polyphony that encompasses his interests in art.
