Incorporating the remains: Deep listening laboratory and recreation of sound archives

by Esteban Ferro Astaiza

Servidor Local presents the workshop Incorporating the remains: Laboratory of deep listening and recreation of sound files.

Dates and times:

Cost: 400 mxn

Taught by: Esteban Ferro Astaiza

This two-session Laboratory aims to share and experiment with the practice of listening, transcription and recreation of the Call of War: Conflict Sound Archive project. From sound files brought (personal and/or historical) by the laboratory participants, we will create scripts and notations for collective recreation, with which we will create a printed publication. This activity is part of the Sound Program of the exhibition Sound sculptures: an exploration of the minimal components of Mario Rodríguez's environment.

Esteban Ferro Astaiza carries out projects related to sound art, editorial production and electronic media. Investigates the relationships between sound, memory and fiction present in Latin American socio-political contexts. Through his practice, he addresses the processes of listening, transcription and recreation of discourses disseminated in the public and media space of these contexts.
