Héctor Velázquez is a visual artist who has lived and worked between Germany and Mexico since the late 1980s. From the outset, his work has focused on exploring the body as a unit of meaning and questioning the boundaries of individual identity. He emphasizes the role of the senses in the construction of human experience, while simultaneously playing with them metaphorically in his iconography and appealing to them directly through his use of materiality, color, texture, and sound.
