Gibran Turón

Proyecto H announces the residency of Gibrán Turón during the month of April. There will be open studio visits throughout the month and an exhibition with the results which will open on May 8.

As a multidisciplinary visual artist, Gibrán explores areas ranging from digital and editorial illustration, to silkscreen printing, risography, drawing, painting and muralism. His work germinates in the fragmentary passages of the mundane, in the in-between spaces that we see, transit, but often do not perceive. This exercise starts with the unveiling of images, texts and objects that she discovers in the streets and then semantically dislocates them in order to confront the homogenization of needs, the standardization of senses and the normalization of behaviors.

In his work, there is a dialogue of the immediate reality of the street, of the fleeting and ephemeral, sustained by uselessness and autonomy; they are a poetic story, an aesthetic sensitization of the metropolis. Finally, his work is developed from the reaffirmation of active leisure understood as the intimate happening, proper for autopoiesis: “vagrancy is health”.
