Gerrit Frohne-Brinkmann

Polina Stroganova presents the closing ceremony with a cocktail & degustation with Flor de Amapa Bocanera in honor of the Rattlesnake Retreat exhibition by the artist Gerrit Frohne-Brinkmann.

Rattlesnake Retreat is the first individual exhibition of the German artist Gerrit Frohne- Brinkmann presented by Polina Stroganova at Fundación Marso. The exhibition is the result of the prestigious Neue Kunst in Hamburg grant, during which the artist worked in Mexico City in a ceramics workshop making a series of rattlesnake sculptures. The rattle part was replaced by a light bulb, transforming the snake into a hybrid between nature and technology, the manual and the industrial, the emotional and the rational. Gerrit Frohne-Brinkmann (born 1990 in Germany) studied at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg. Searching for the intersection between early cultural forms and current popular exhibition and performance formats in the field of entertainment, he is particularly interested in the margins of the natural and cultural sciences. More recently, his works have been exhibited at the Oldenburger Kunstverein (2022), Kunsthalle Münster (2021), Kunstpalais Erlangen (2019), Kölnischer Kunstverein (2018) and Kestner Gesellschaft Hannover (2017). In 2016, he won the Art Cologne Award for New Positions; in 2017 he received the Follow Fluxus scholarship from the Nassauischer Kunstverein Wiesbaden. Gerrit Frohne-Brinkmann lives and works in Hamburg and is represented by Galerie Noah Klink, Berlıń and 14a, Hamburg. He is currently in residence in Mexico City with the kind support of Neue Kunst in Hamburg.
