Gabriel O'Shea

Hilario Galguera Gallery presents the exhibition Preludio by Gabriel O'Shea.

Preludio portrays the layers of complexity of the contemporary digital age, analyzing the decline of spirituality in society and its replacement by the pseudo-religious veneration of virtual spaces. Exploring a shift in art history and practice, the decay of the body as a sacred symbol is presented in juxtaposition between classical and contemporary media.

Gabriel O'Shea is a multidisciplinary artist who works with painting, sculpture, photography, installation and video. Memory, violence, technology, the body and decay are some of the constant themes in Gabriel's work, his dreamlike images are balanced in a space between the peaceful and the violent, between the figurative and the conceptual.

Gabriel studied at the Barcelona Academy of Art, in 2018. He has had solo exhibitions at the Museo Casa de la Mora, Toluca, Mexico. And he has participated in group shows such as "Index 5: estancias" at Galería Hilario Galguera, Mexico (2021), SOUND+ (second edition), Mexico City (2022). In 2023, her work was presented at the Paris Fashion Week in collaboration with the brand Airei.
