Esther Gámez

Open Studio

Esther’s work during her residency at Lagos explores performativity in both public space and the studio, focusing on the anima embodied in the body. In the neighborhoods of Popotla and Anáhuac, Esther places two collage-based pieces on paper, made with fragments of posters and images from local residents, layered over a public-domain anatomical diagram of a woman. In the studio, working with textiles, she makes visible the breath of life—the spirit, the vital impulse that allows us to think, move, act, and exist.
