El Cuarto de Máquinas presents the group exhibition Ephemeral Juxtaposition, with works by Kikyz1313, Bernardo Montgomery and Roberto del Río.
Through a series of symbolic overlays, the pieces move from the intimate realm of the individual to a universal space where everything is interconnected. The works reveal how the contradictions and dualities that define human experience manifest in a space that invites viewers to confront their own vulnerability.
The rusted metals of Bernardo Montgomery evoke the scars of time, symbolizing the persistence of suffering in both body and soul. Kikyz1313 offers a visceral exploration of melancholy and the diseased state of the human condition, presenting these not as anomalies but as the inherent nature of existence. Finally, Roberto del Río challenges the viewer to confront human fragility through installations that recognize the feminine as a portal to the divide and its ability to channel mystical energies. This contrasts with centuries of silencing women in dominant religious traditions, presenting a dichotomy that juxtaposes the concept of a child as a parasite with the miracle of its existence.
Ephemeral Juxtaposition confronts us with the essential and inevitable questioning of the love-pain relationship that unfolds as a toroid in constant motion, representing the unyielding force of love as the energetic drive of life, even as it draws us to the brink of tragedy.
Through saturated installations, abstract sculptures, and hyper-realistic painting, the space becomes a path of reflection on the human condition, where tragedy and bravery coexist in a transient balance. This invites the viewer to immerse themselves in an aesthetic and emotional landscape that encapsulates the fleeting nature of the present, contemplating the scars and wounds manifested in corporeality and the tangible experiences of human existence, as well as the inherent beauty that emanates from them.
