El paisaje es presente del pasado

Curated by Rodrigo Torres Ramos

Terreno Baldío presents the exhibition El paisaje es presente del pasado curated by Rodrigo Torres Ramos and with the participation of the artists: Aurora Noreña, Patricio Tejedo, Angella Holguín, Karla Leyva, Javier Hinojosa, Javier Marín, Rodrigo Mazari and Julio Martínez Barnetche.

Representations of Mesoamerican imaginaries have been a constant in the production of art in Mexico since its formation as a nation-state. Media such as painting, sculpture and photography - among others - have recorded, interpreted and disrupted the images of antiquity, both in their formal and iconographic dimensions and in those associated with ritual.

The landscape is present of the past brings together the production of three generations of artists whose approach to the past lies in the transit through the inherited territory, the recognition of the complexities of the natural and built environment, and in the material and symbolic consciousness of the inhabited geography.

The exhibition addresses critical contemporary narratives, such as the complexity of the notion of heritage, the environmental crisis or the permanent questioning of the origin of identity.
