Daniel Lezama

Galería Hilario Galguera presents in its ground floor room, the closing event of the exhibition Song of the tiny death of Daniel Lezama.

Daniel Lezama (Mexico City, 1968) is an artist with an extensive career, who has produced a body of work based on a synthesis of unofficial stories within a Mexican context. With an existential and critical perspective on art, his work summarises the history, movements, concepts, trends, customs and latent stories that characterise the country, interpreted in a symbolic environment.

He has participated in exhibitions at venues such as the Museo de la Ciudad, Mexico City, Mexico; Roebling Hall Gallery, New York, USA; Hof & Huyser Galerie, Amsterdam, The Netherlands; and Angerlehner Museum, Austria, to name a few, and in 2005 he participated in the 2nd Beijing Biennale, China. His work belongs to prestigious collections around the world including The Murderme Collection, London, UK; Stedelijk Museum voor Actuele Kunst, Ghent, Belgium; and Hermes Trust Collection, London, UK, among others.

The Museum of Modern Art presents an exhibition acknowledging his impact on the contemporary art scene with an interpretative curatorship that includes works from 1996-2022. The show consists of a selection of around forty works, including three pieces made specifically for the exhibition that begin a dialogue with the museum's permanent collection.

Alongside the show at the Museo de Arte Moderno, Galería Hilario Galguera is pleased to present an exhibition of recent work by Daniel Lezama that includes painting, sculpture and lithography
