Proyecto Arte presents Fractal Traces by multidisciplinary artist Cristopher Cichocki. His first large-format exhibition in Mexico in the Proyecto Arte rooms. His work summarizes the cycle of decay and renewal through the relationships between humanity, the natural world, and industrial mutation. He defines his practice as 'New earth art' in which he highlights the increasingly toxic global environment our planet finds itself in this new millennium. More than site-specific installations, Cichocki makes installations that respond to space, generating new ecosystems with organic and synthetic materials and sounds. In his work, he invokes opposites, the desert submerging underwater, while the macrocosms enter the view of a microscopic lens. All these elements are brought together in 'Circular Dimensions', a series of audiovisual pieces that are constantly evolving. Cichocki is a graduate of CalArts and Yale Norfolk School of Art. He lives and works in the Coachella Valley, where he has explored the depths of the California desert for the last three decades, while producing exhibitions around the world, such as at the Museum of Image and Sound in Sao Paulo, Brazil; the Biennale Urbana in Venice, Italy; Casa França Brasil in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Platform in Paris, France; the Museum of Photographic Arts in San Diego, California; the Museum of Moving Image in New York and at the 2022 edition of Coachella Music and Arts Festival, in Indio, California. His work is part of different art collections such as the J. Paul Getty Museum, Palm Springs Art Museum, and the Lancaster Museum of Art.
